My Inspiration

My best friend, my mentor, my dad.

As a kid, I have the greatest memories of my dad, Rob LaScala, coaching my basketball teams, bringing me to Sixers and Phillies games, taking me to Disney World and so on…but nothing, absolutely nothing, compared to when he’d say
“hey bud, come with me” to Apollo, LaScala’s, or to any of his stores.

You couldn’t get the smile off my face as I climbed into my car seat to head to work with my dad...I was in heaven. From the age of 4, watching my dad working so hard, juggling tons of things at once, talking with vendors, staff, and customers… well, it was the only classroom I wanted to be in…ever.

He cared, so genuinely, about every single thing associated with his stores…everything was important…everyone was important…and nothing got past him…he’d tell me, you do it right or don’t do it at all.

I couldn’t wait to get an apron on…I was in charge of stacking the chips, filling the napkins, arranging the straws, I didn’t care, I’d do anything…soon I discovered how hard everyone worked for hours before the stores even opened…everything had to be fresh, there was no other option.

I learned how to make a pizza and what makes not just a good, but a great steak sandwich. That’s it, I was hooked….I became obsessed with anything, everything, pizza and steaks.

All these years later, working alongside my dad has been,
and will always be, my joy and my honor.

Today, I’m thrilled to invite you to my first store, Lorenzo, which embraces my passion for great pizza and steaks with a re-envisioned, yet authentic, spin. I thank my dad, my team, and my customers for making it possible for me to do what I love… see you soon, let’s eat!
